What the project has achieved so far here
π Reduced upto 15-20 van movements a day into Oxford
π¦ Delivered 13,200 parcels
π³ Saved 5 tons of co2 over 12 month period
π² Traveled 3120 miles!
π Yodel joining is a step change in the project, reducing 6% automatically for all 40 college sites
Goal here is to reduce the current 15-25 van movements colleges see daily from multiple different parcel companies (think DPD, Yodel, DHL, UPS, Royal mail and more!) and reduce this down to one cargo bike movement in the city. Yodel joining shows a commitment from a national parcel carrier towards cleaner air, safer roads, less congestion and parking issues.Β
Any items that come via Yodel will now automatically come via Pedal & Post without students needing to change their address, reducing 6% of all deliveries to all 40 college sites, not just the colleges currently signed up to the project
Working with Yodel is also an opportunity to demonstrate how Phase 2 of this project and automating the process would work. We hope this shows it can be done and other national parcel carriers follow suitΒ
Christopher Benton, CEO at Pedal & Post, said: "We are delighted to continue to expand the freight consolidation project, this is an oppotunity to deliver to all 40 oxford university/college sites and this is a great opportunity to engage with the colleges and departments directly and demonstrate how this project can help the local area and community with less vans with deliveries on a single cargo bike movement."
